Dr. Ghassan Lotfi, a minimally invasive gynecology surgeon, with 35 years of experience in the field, Dr. Ghassan launched his distinguished career in obstetrics and gynecology in Scandinavia in 1990, following his notable contribution to the field with his post- graduate doctoral thesis in “Hormonal receptors in endometrial cancer,” published in 1989 in Sankt-Peterburg. Throughout the subsequent two decades, he became a leading specialist in the region, securing board certifications in OB/GYN from Sweden in 1998, and shortly thereafter from Finland and Norway in 1999 and 2000, respectively. His leadership extended to his role as the head of department at a regional hospital in Jakobstad, Finland, and as a consultant at esteemed university hospitals such as Ulleval in Oslo, and Soder and Karolinska in Stockholm.
Since relocating to the U.A.E. in 2010, Dr. Ghassan has continued to enhance his expertise in minimally invasive surgery and endometriosis care at notable institutions such as DHA, Al Zahraa, and Saudi German private hospitals. His efforts led to the accreditation of these services by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy-SRC/AAGL.
Currently, Dr. Ghassan presides over the Emirates Endometriosis League and was designated as the President of the SEUD (Society of Endometriosis and Uterine Benign Disorders) in 2023. With over 35 years of experience in the field, he has honed advanced skills in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, tackling both benign and primary malignant conditions. He is also actively involved in training and mentoring colleagues in minimally invasive gynecological surgery (MIGS).
Holding dual citizenship in Sweden and Finland, Dr. Ghassan is originally from Lebanon, bringing a rich, multicultural perspective to his practice.
